Dave Schwensen

Basing his five step program on the proven theory that friends would rather do business with friends, Dave’s keynote presentation and training seminars are designed to show how to build long term relationships that are both professional and profitable.

An important element of success is the ability to communicate your message and have it remembered. Each member of every team has experiences, thoughts and observations brimming with potential to break the ice whether making first impressions, maintaining established professional relationships, or enhancing customer service.

Dave shows you how to turn these experiences, thoughts or observations into positive communication tools by employing creativity and good humor within a politically correct working environment. The results are a less stressful workplace, better teamwork, increased productivity, client acquisition and retention, and the sense of achievement that comes with success.

Dave’s professional background enables him to bring unique solutions to common problems. A veteran of the fast paced and high stress entertainment industry in Hollywood and New York, he worked behind the scenes as a comedy talent coordinator and consultant for television networks, film studios and live performance venues. With egos and star power often clashing on a daily basis, Dave developed a set of communication skills to promote teamwork and meet deadlines through his experiences working with many of today’s top comedy stars and production companies.

Dave Schwensen is an author, keynote speaker, consultant and trainer, award-winning newspaper columnist, entertainment journalist, university instructor and host of the syndicated radio show, “What’s So Funny!” His credits include talent coordinator for television’s “A&E’s An Evening At The Improv” and consultant for “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” Comedy Central, MTV, HBO, Disney and Paramount. Get over your fear and get your point across in presentations. Speaking in public is often listed as the No. 1 fear - ranking ahead of even death. This means most people would rather be eulogized, than deliver their own eulogy. This course puts the fun in public speaking.

To be successful, it takes more than talent and courage to present in front of a room full of people. Preparation, timing, delivery, connection with the audience, and an attention-grabbing use of humor will help your message be heard and remembered.

Objectives include:
-- Recognize and overcome nervousness
-- Identify delivery techniques and preparing your message
-- Recognize the power of humor
-- Components of working with an audience

Designed and instructed by Dave Schwensen for Cleveland State University, this course includes a 50 page workbook and is available as a full or half-day training session.

Programs can be customized for specific profession, organization or special event.

“Thank you for being such an entertaining keynote speaker at our IAEOP Spring Conference. The attendees were extremely impressed and very positive of your wonderful message.”
-- Jill Grubert, President of Indiana Association of Educational Office Professionals, Inc.

“Our conference was a huge success and thank you for serving as our opening speaker. Your easy and professional delivery helped immensely in setting the tone of a welcoming environment that we so much hoped to achieve. We all enjoyed ourselves and I am convinced we carried the theme of fun through the week. Thanks again for bringing a spark to our conference.”
-- Bill Shawver, President of Ohio National Association for Educational Procurement.

“I would like to thank you for your uplifting, educational, and inspirational presentation made at our management retreat. I should also add that our staff laughed a lot and were inspired to think about themselves and their role as a manager.” -
-- Steve Laubacher, Ph.D., Executive Director of Nord Center Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare.

“Dave’s lively, informative and funny program was the perfect kick-off for our three day event. It was truly a fun evening and a great way to set the mood for our meeting.”
-- David J. Barnard, International Household Regional Director for Vita-Mix Corp.

“Thanks very much for your presentation at the Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association Conference. The verbal comments and written evaluations of the participants testified to the value of your talk. Some of the comments include: ‘It was informative, encouraging and entertaining.’ ‘The message was pertinent and well-presented.’ ‘Dave was funny and had an excellent point.’ ‘Awesome – loved it!”
-- Russ O’Neill, Director of Continuing Education, OCHEA Conference Co-Chair.

“You have raised the bar for future presenters. Every single member that attended the meeting had good comments about you and the material. Referring you to other organizations would be like ‘hooking up’ with Pamela Anderson - I would have no trouble doing it.”
-- Brian O'Connell, Chapter President of The American Society of Appraisers.

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed your presentation and the subject matter is something we can use in our professional and personal lives. Training sessions tend to be somewhat “dry,” but added humor can make the difference between whether people look forward to them or dread them. We try to make the difference! Thanks again for your help!”
-- Phyllis Branksy, Vice President / Retail Banking, Citizens Banking Company.

“What can I say? You were excellent.”
-- Marcia Renande, Chairperson Women’s Health Day, Firelands Regional Medical Center.
