Model and Motivational Speaker
Louise Ashby was born in Australia but grew up in London until the age of 21.
Louise moved to Los Angeles to start her life a fresh and follow her dream
of being an actress.
This dream was shattered a mere three
weeks after arriving in Hollywood. Louise was involved in what
the authorities attest was to be the worst auto accident in Beverly
Hills in thirty years. Her family were phoned and told to get
on Concorde so that they may have a chance to say their goodbyes.
But for Louise, there were no goodbyes
necessary. After waking from a coma and finding herself surrounded
by machines and a bandaged head, which she couldn't move, it
was explained to her that she had lost the entire left side of
her head. Her modeling pictures were around the wall of the intensive
care unit and it wasn't for decoration, but so the doctors could
see how she was supposed to look.
After being told that she was blind
in one eye, had lost smell and taste and the left front lobe
of her brain, which controls inhibitions, her journey to recovery
was only beginning. For ten years she went through 18 surgeries
and today looks the same as before and has used the experience
to help others.
In 2002, Louise Ashby released her memoirs in the best selling
book, The Magic of The Mask. Louise then co-founded an organization
called Facing Forward where she helped children with birth defects
and their parents to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Louise has appeared on talk shows world wide to share her story
and give others hope. Some of these shows include numerous appearances
on Larry King Live, Oprah, Montel Williams, A Current Affair,
20/20 to name a few.
Louise Ashby has also appeared on
television shows, Party of Five, Ask Harriet and feature films,
Death Valley and I Woke Up Early the Day I Died. Louise has become
a marquee name in helping others.
Now, Louise Ashby's ventures have
grown. Today, Louise is building The Louise Ashby Children's
Fund so she can help children all over the world going through
any kind of difficulties.
Louise Ashby is popular on the speaking
circuit, where she aims to help others see the light at the end
of the tunnel and shares her tools and gifts on how to get through
trauma.
Through her TV appearances, writings,
public speaking engagements, she receives thousands of letters
a month from others asking her for guidance. From this Louise
is in production for her TV show, One Split Second. She has been
approached to host a talk radio show, be the face of a cosmetic
line and make a film of her life. Ultimately her goal is to reach
any many as she can through television forum to show that no
matter what happens you can get through it and if you're having
a tough time doing so, she can give you a little nudge to help
you along.

On Split
Second
Every second in your life counts as it makes up the foundation of who you are.
Every moment of joy, pain, growth, lust, desire, love and betrayal all of these
and more make YOU who you are! Yet the search is one to discover why we are
here, is there something else, what is our purpose? Do you want to live life
to the full and make every day worthwhile?
When you show up to each day with
the willingness to be aware and open then you can’t help
but be authentic to what transpires. Life doesn't have terms.
It is you who makes the terms. Have you ever thought that you
have the strength to make the change and when you really look
through your history, can you see what patterns are holding you
back and that the more you ignore this the more you will repeat
the same thing over until you get the lesson.
Did something or someone put you down?
Or make it difficult for you to move forward? If you have disability
how do others react to you and how should you deal with it? Have
you ever thought that maybe you were chosen to go through these
things because God knew you were strong enough and that others
could learn from you?
The Magic
of The Mask
This lecture shares Louise’s story of how she came to Hollywood after
loosing her mother to cancer. It will go through the periods and times of loneliness
and how Louise thought that she had been through everything here was to go
through. God had another plan. After Louise had the car accident she came to
the realization that what is on the outside is not important, it is what is
on the inside that counts. Why was Louise so strong when others couldn’t
look at her?
The frustrations, finding out she
had no sight, sense of smell or taste. Later finding out she
had no inhibitions. What kept Louise Ashby going and why she
never took no for an answer. Little do we know what life has
been planned for us and the experiences that others have been
through to get them where they are to day. This lecture will
cover the ignorance of other people and how we can choose to
not let that affect our lives. If we are confident in ourselves
then others have no choice to be confident too. Confidence is
contagious. Sometimes we don’t know why something has happened
until further down the road.
We all have the strength to get through
it but we have to be quiet and still enough to find that strength.
It is important not to be around negativity or to take it into
our own mind as that is someone else’s fear, not ours.
